Molly Thompson is a contemporary artist based in Denver, Colorado, where she lives with her husband, Will, their daughter Della, and their chocolate lab, Stout. After years in the corporate world, she returned to her lifelong passion for creating art, embracing a more intentional and creative path. Motherhood has deepened her commitment to living authentically, and she hopes to model self-trust, curiosity and courage through both her life and work.
A Note From Me:
My work is inspired by growth, nostalgia, connection, and moments of everyday joy that often go unnoticed. Through layers of acrylic paint, oil pastel, resin and mixed media, I explore what it means to trust the process - not only in art, but in life.
Motherhood has profoundly influenced my creative practice. Becoming a mom has reconnected me with a childlike sense of curiosity, imagination and play. It has encouraged me to create more freely, to experiment without needing a destination, and to embrace the simple joy of making something because I can. Through painting, I am continuously rediscovering wonder, healing old fears, and falling in love with the process of making art again.
Many of the images and themes that appear in my work are rooted in personal experiences and memories. The ocean and palms evoke a sense of nostalgia, bringing up the happy memories of a childhood spent on boats and diving, whereas wildflowers are a nod to look around for moments of everyday joy. I am also drawn to themes of courage, individuality and self-trust. Words and phrases in my work encourage growth and pursuing a life that feels authentic. I find inspiration in athletes, adventurers and creatives who are willing to dream boldly and follow a path that may not look like everyone else’s.
As my work continues to evolve, I find myself increasingly interested in the energy and connection that exists between people, nature and all living things. My paintings are an invitation to pause, notice beauty in the ordinary, trust the unseen process of growth and reconnect with the sense of wonder that exists within us all.
